Who Is The Most Important - 1800 Words

Albert Schweitzer was a very important man. He helped many people, after changing his whole life around to become a humanitarian. Montag, he proved to the readers that there is always room for change and to become a better person. A once fireman, who helped with the destruction of society, can change his life as well to become a healer and wake up call for the people brainwashed by the government. But the question is who is more important to their society? So let’s get to know Mr. Albert Schweitzer! The same year he began to preach at St. Nicholas Church in Strasbourg. In 1906, he published The Quest of the Historical Jesus(Albert). This book would gain him much fame as a theological scholar(Albert). Schweitzer also wrote a biography of Bach in 1905, in the language of French! And then he rewrote the whole book in German in 1908(Albert). So not only was he quite a Renaissance man, he could speak fluently many different languages. By 1908, he was only 23! Only by the age of 29 Schweitzer had written three books and made big contributions to the musical field, was a pastor at a church, and earned two doctoral degrees(Lewis). When he was thirty years old he became aware of the desperate need of medical attention in Africa. He knew he needed to do something so he devoted his life to be a humanitarian(Lewis). He spent the rest of his life to treating directly in Africa(Lewis). At the age of 37 he and his wife opened a hospital. Within 9 months of opening the hospital, he and his wife were able to treat about 2,000 patients(Lewis). Some would travel hundreds of miles on foot just to visit the hospital(Lewis). They treated many people in need(Albert2). He then opened another later in France. While in France he and his wife spent time as a prisoner of war. He would not let this set him back(Lewis).
